Known problems
I have tried the applet and these
web pages in a few browsers. The following
is a list of the problems that I have found.
In Internet Explorer 5.5
The Java support of Internet Explorer does not seem to be good. The visual
components of the applet do not behave as they are supposed to do.
In particular the upper limit of scroll bars are wrong.
The applet has a scroll bar in the main window, for the number of cycles
of the simulation. Its upper limit should be
5000. In Interner Explorer its upper limit is 5250 instead. The Factor
Editor window has two scroll bars: one for the level of the factor and
another one for the intensity of the effect. The upper limit of both
scroll bars should be 100. In Internet Explorer the upper limit is 105
in both of them.
In addition, the scroll bars for the number of cycles of the simulation
and for the level of the factor appear so short (or its cursor, or thumb, so wide)
that it is extraordinarily difficult to adjust the cursor to the desired value.
In short: don't use Internet Explorer 5.5 or below.
In Konqueror 2.1.1
Sometimes the applet is not fully loaded when opening the page. For example,
the first row of buttons does not appear in the applet. The workaround is
to scroll the page so that the applet is fully shown and then click the
Reload button of the browser. The applet is reloaded fully.
In Netscape Communicator 4.76
Sometimes when I browse from the page that contains the applet to another page
that contains an image the browser hangs while downloading the image. The way
around it, rather drastic, is to kill Netscape and start over again.
